YogaSpark will close at the end of the month
YogaSpark owner Lauren Porath decided to close her business, which was on Duane for the last eight years — and this is a real loss. The last day will be January 29. (Fuze House—an infrared-heated Pilates and sculpture practice from Miami—has taken over.)
“We are honored that YogaSpark has become a safe and sweaty haven for so many people away from the chaos of New York and your busy lives,” she wrote in an email to her fellow yogis. “We are so grateful to every person who has walked through our doors, and to our staff and instructors, whose excellence in the field is second to none.
However, she said, “all New Yorkers know and feel that the cost of operations has increased significantly. It’s unfortunate, but it’s out of our control.”
There’s good news for the business: Its original location in Mamaroneck is still in operation, and another Darien location is planned. And she will continue her studies further YogaSpark Digital.
During the rest of the month, rental of mats and towels is free for everyone; class credits expire on January 29; if you want to renew for the rest of the month, they will prorate the fee.
“It was an incredible and unforgettable experience for all of us,” Lauren said. “We kept space for each other. We have become stronger and more present. We’ve seen each other through college graduations, births, career changes, and more. It’s been a wild ride. Thank you, thank you, thank you for joining us.”
